you do need to keep growing plants around em ;o.

I have about 7 hives which are standing close to each other. When I plant seeds to fill almost whole area in range of hives I am getting about 3-4 waxes. After night when plants grow wax is in 5-7 hives. Plant a lot of fast growing plants (carrtots, beetroots).

10 pounds of honey yields 1 pound of wax.

So try keeping your bees happy with there honey and see it that helps there wax production.
