I just joined yesterday and thanks to some friends (sir destructicus and survival) have settled in nicely! I just wanted to announce that i'm new to the forums and would like to get some help on three things that bug me.
1: Taming, what stats and skill values, and skills? Please.
2: Server resets, do I lose my char?
3:Can covered wagons move across water? If not, is there a possible way to do it, I see rivers in the way of my moving location. I can't afford to waste that costly yet useless linen.

Hi there and welcome to H&H. I am going to move your thread to the "How do I?" subforums, since this is more of a starters question thread than an introduction.

To answer your actual questions:

2. Nobody knows when a reset will happen, probably not anytime soon. Note however that this is a game in alpha status, so resets will come eventually. Only when there are major changes to the game mechanics though. This world is running for almost a year now for example.

3. You can't move the wagon itself through rivers (although that has been suggested before I think), you can however build a raft to move it across.

That said I wish you good luck with whatever goals you have set, pretty much anything is possible in H&H. I always like to mention that this is a permadeath game with open PvP too, so don't mistake it for some farmville clone. Without the right security measures (see my sig) you can get killed and robbed easily and loose the progress of months. Get used to that thought quick, because it happens to everyone sooner or later.

Second off, there are a good number of topics that cover this in the forums already. Alot of your questions can be answered just inside them. The really important/hot topics that make the most sense are "stickied", they should be at the top of the forum.

As for skills, high unarmed combat, pretty much every fighting skill will give you an advantage, but you definitely need all that you can get your hands on. You need armour, unfortunately, i have yet to come across a tactic that doesn't require you to tank a hit, so leather at least. I wouldn't underestimate this task, it's rather challenging. The bison/cows you need to tame, as well as the sheep, ALL aggro you if you choose to attack one directly. A stampede can be intimidating... and deadly. There's currently a glitch that makes the herd still aggro, even when you're down. Expect a few KO's if you do this wrong.

The most simple way to get only one, is to A) build a cheap fence between it and the herd, or B) Be far enough away from the herd so that only one can "see" you.

Second, define server reset. Currently, the server is being SAVED and re-loaded, changes being made, etc. You do NOT lose your char in this time. There have been however, a few cases that the MAP has been reset. The map gets cleared, and buildings, mines, farms are lost. As to if your char loses the points, i have no idea, that's for someone else to answer.

Covered wagons are not something i have any experience with, so i can't help there, sorry.
