Things fresh characters can do to get valuable things

Postby Shask » Wed Jan 05, 2011 12:40 am

Just seeing if I've overlooked anything, what would you guys say is the best thing a fresh character can do to get valuable enough things to trade? I've thought of linen cloth (self explanatory, great demand for it), looking for mussels and boiling them for pearls (luck based), foragables (chants/blueberries) and the last one and the one I think has the most potential, is silkmoth eggs. Surely a guy playing the game for 10 minutes can just as efficiently produce silkmoth eggs as an established person playing for years? And these have a lot of demand, no?

Also, found 3 villages but I can't find them on the map. Anyone know where I am? Crete, Praven and BeerMakers.

Lots of demand for cave bulbs if you can forage those too.

Silk > cavebulbs imo.

I'd buy them anytime anyway, even low q silk is worth pretty much (I'm thinking merch robes here). I'll even provide you with some mid-q eggs if you promise to remember me when silk is done :P

Also you could triangulate your position by spawning alts and getting them invited in towns with known coordinates.

Me and some buddies use Crete, you're about a grid north and east a bit of nople (go left from E-mask on Mqrius's map.

We found an abandoned iron mine with only a palisade protecting it, we rub the ore all over our pretty little bodies.

Silk is definitely the way to go. MBC might also do, if you buy good tub and trays.

MBC, sounds like a really good idea actually.. Trading seems so fucked for hermits though. It's easy for villages but a hermit has to either a) find a local village to trade with or b) travel a large distance. And new hermits are only going to have e.g. a backpack and coffers at best, further limiting the viability of trading :P

If said hermit is in the central grids it's not a problem. We have a few successful hermits within C3 doing pretty good for solo players.

Linen cloth is the biggun' IMO, I'd prefer having thousands of linen cloth to silk cloth, however silk cloth is worth more for your time I guess, eventually you just don't want anymore LQ silk tlhough, you got too many merc robes  and are tired of making other LQ silk shit for funsies.

LQ silk is a good one but you need to be active with trading, if you do linen you can just find one village and go nuts. Bricks also work great this way, trade me a wagon full of bricks and I'd be willing to sell some good stuff even if the bricks don't really cover it in points. :)
