Why can't i shoot?

The answer may be a bit obvious, but i simply can not shoot. I equip the Sling, i got the Hunting skill, i get the Shoot option, yet when i am trying to shoot anything i simply can't. When i click on little rabbits, rats or frogs nothing ever happens.
Help a poor soul out please, this is getting on my nerves.

Put the Shoot action on your hotbar, hit 1 (or whatever number you put it on), and your cursor should turn into an arrow - right clicking on a fox/boar/deer/bear should give you an aim bar.

Not sure about rabbits..

I just managed to use the damned thing on a rat. It seems that the most pointy part of the arrowhead is the one defining where the arrow is pointed at, so it's quite difficult for anyone not having any clue on how that whole thing works to understand that he just needs to point at the animal better. Also, just by clicking on the animal won't do either, i had to find out at what grid it's feet stand at and point there, doing that on a rat or frog was difficult to say the least. Or it's just me and my Java/Mozilla programms.
In any case, they should make it easier to simply target anything.

Well, targeting rabbits, rats, frogs sux, and not sure why you would ever sling them when you can catch them with your hands.

Aiming at bigger animals, starting at foxes, deers, boars, bears is easier + after you shoot one time, the icon of an animal appears in your top right corner, and even if animal is hidden, you don't need to click on here with arrow anymore, you can just click on her picture in top corner, which will aim at it then.

its easieer if you "aim" with the normal cursor and use the shortbar for clicking then
