Do people in organised villages make Psyche pures?

Postby Shask » Sun Jan 09, 2011 2:15 pm

Well, browing through the "Post your stats thread" it seems like a common pattern for people to have very high Attributes in everything but Psyche. E.g. everything 200+ and then Psyche has 18 or something, obviously unintended levels.

So do people make alts and simply breed them for Psyche? Are these alts normally shared throughout a village e.g. anyone knows the password and can log on to it?

Also, not only Psyche I guess, same goes for Dex.

Psyche is tricky to raise as there are only so many foods that give it - add into the fact that there is a big need for jewellery and of cause you get villages just picking 1 maybe 2 people to go Psyche. Main farmers do well at this job as they use a lot of stam and need to eat lots. Very few people would just make an alt as they would not be able to stuff enough creamy bulbs down its throat.

Specialized characters become very important at the top tier of this game. It makes sense to have your farming character separate from your combat character. That way if you combat character is killed you don't lose a farmer as well. Most large villages share account access as well. It's a lot easier for 5 people to level up a farming alt than it is for one. You all share the benefits and there is little downside. Besides occasionally having to wait to use the character, but that's usually not a problem. The same logic applies to crafting characters as well.

The downside to this strategy is that one farming or crafting character is very important. If he does get killed you are out a lot of hard work. There are a couple ways around this problem. One is simply leaving the character inside of a brickwall and never being in view of the outside. Another option is to have 2-3 village farmers. This way if 1 is killed you are not completely screwed.

same works for combat characters. Having some combat accounts that anyone can log on to to level and that anyone can access in times of need, same as farmer, or crafter. Thing is, you need to know eachother and trust eachother 100%
Learn from the mistakes of others. You won't live long enough to make all of them yourself.

This whole alt for specific jobs thing sounds horribly like cheating to me, as do macros etc. But thats just how this community works I guess. Like the game, hate the 1337 speak and exploit whoring. Same with all MMOs though.

The devs think that alts are fine. Having a character in a big village where there's always someone who can actively earn LP on 24/7 is kinda lame, but eh, what can you do about that...

I can't recall ever seeing anyone type in 1337 speak on this forum, as long as I've read it. I'm sensing some LARPer bumbum-hurt, looking at your last few posts.
