Probably stupid question: Capturing chickens?

Do I need animal husbandry or something? I can put rabbits in my inventory aswell, but my character can't pick chickens.

There has to be at least a 2x2 box available, just like with rabbits. And you'll need hunting

EDIT: Maybe OFFtopic but I got a bear which killed me. I died, but the bear is still there, in front of me. How can I safely respawn? I have no hearth fire

yeah I got awesome tons of meat. Awesome newbie start is awesome, my most sucefull character got killed when swimming

You're not being killed, you're just knocked out. If you don't have a hearthfire to warp to, you'll have to hope the bear wanders far enough away by the time you regain consciousness and run the opposite direction the bear went!

Or hope some other hearthling happens to be in the same area as you that can kill it.
