Cave Mining

Has anyone figured it out? I'd like to know how to mine cave walls, if it's possible, or it's just telling me that i can't ever.

There's a post with some people mining a wall in a picture, located here. So it apparently can be done?

you find a spot that lets you mine and keep at it till you dig your way into the side of the wall seems to be random

How can you tell where it's mineable? Is there something that shows different, or do i just have to rape click the walls until i find it. (using mining skill obviously, i'm not that dumb. XP)

iv checked about 5 caves in my area only one would let me . As far as i can tell thers no diffrents in the wall. Also so far i have only got chiped stone from the wall and i have maid so head way in not realy shure if im doing it right or if there is any ore to be had since i dont have any rust root . xp is about 20 its seems to work like digging as in you will mine till you run out of stam

I thought it was two things. One being "Not near the cave entrance."

I found a cave, and I was unable to mine anywhere after 30 minutes or so of trying. When I reached the very very end of the cave opposite the entrance, I was able to make a hole in the wall. But it isn't giving me anything but stone so far.

okay, ive got a question concerning this. normally it says "the rock does not budge" but now it saying something different; "this rock is slightly too hard for you to mine.

I've also gotten way too hard (near entrance)

It seems the deeper the softer. I assume STR is what's needed.
