hide decay?

I had about a dozen dried rabbit hides inside in a cupboard, but they're all gone now... However, all my food, all my cured leather in tubs, every single other item i had was left untouched.

So, either there was a VERY selective thief poking around my camp (which is unclaimed yet, so i'm not crying about the "theft"), OR, dried hides now decay after a set period of time....

Anyone else notice disappearing hides?

Just sounds like a polite thief that only took what he needed to make some bunny slippers.
