Raise Crop Q?

Postby Lusewing » Fri Jan 14, 2011 12:29 am

Im not sure if I should post this in Bugs but I thought I would try here first. Yes I know about the fact that soil Q now affects the crop Q but what on earth is going on?

I have 27 farming
The soil is Q 22
After two generations of carrots only 2:9 are above Q 1 - the starting seed was Q 8

Am I missing something here? Or have I just been really really unlucky?

Really unlucky.

Seed q +/- 5 softcapped by soil q and farming lvl.

You could have q99 soil, 99 farming, and lose 1-5 seed q/harvest. Or gain that amount, for the matter.

Don't expect your crop to go over your soil q. That theoretical softcap is actually a hardcap.Any seed that goes over the q of the soil will be dragged down, so there's no way in which you can raise the q of your seeds.

You get a little past your soil Q, but yes it's essentially a hardcap.

Unless Joftar and Lorb implement some sort of fertilisers.

So is it correct that crop Q is softcapped by the lower of farming or soil Q, not some combination of both? I have been trying to find a good place to settle with some friends of mine and if I'm not going to be able to get crop Q above soil Q by more than a little, then I have to look for much higher Q than if it's softcapped by a combination...

That's just rediculous. Trying hard then to understand the purpose of getting your farming above the level of soil you happen to find, which is about pathetic since hardly no resources of any decent quailty are anywhere in 2 supergrids ive searched. What exactly WAS the purpose for making farming nothing but q30 crops the "end game" for? I mean you find a soil spot, 30, 60 50 whatever...then get your crops up to that and ...game over. Nothing more to strive for. Well, unless you consider 1000 hours of clicking in a boat down river for higher to be " a game". From what I've noticed so far, with very sparse resources of any kind over 30. All the former game play of building your stats to increase quality of your items has been castrated. You can basically finish the game in a few weeks (Especially if you are a farmer). CLick until you can't anymore, settle for the 50 soil, get your crops up to it and then...sit? Anyone illustrate the purpose of the game/stats now passed a month of play? If what is said is true here then it's pretty much a non-starter.

I've been having the same problem too, I have quality 35 soil and 20 farming, and for the last 5 days my plants have only given quality 0-1 seeds with the occasional seed being maybe q2 or q3. I don't think we're unlucky I think something is wrong with how farming is working.

Learn the H&H mechanic rules...if it works, is good, is cool...fuck it up. If it's buggy, bent or broken...don't touch it. Enjoy your game...lol
