How do I use a custom client?

Postby DasDragon » Mon Jan 17, 2011 1:49 am

I'm a complete newbie at this. I'm trying to use the Modified client by Gilbertus, and I have absolutely no idea how to set it up.

Read the Gilbertus thread, the first post, ALL THE WAY THROUGH.
Follow the instructions.

You won't be saying that in a week or two when you realize how many abandoned homes there are. A 30 second boat ride south of my village literally bring you to the ghetto. There's abandoned claims everywhere with the occasional newb taking things and raiders patrolling. It reminds me of Detroit.

I run Windows 7 64-bit, not Mac OSX. The rest of the post doesn't tell me much on how to install the client.

Then you probably aren't reading it very thoroughly. Since you're running x64, you probably either downloaded the 64-bit client and have 32-bit Java installed, or downloaded the 32-bit client and have 64-bit Java installed.

Also the link to the Troubleshooting thread and various other informations.

Try both the 32-bit client and the 64-bit client. Make sure you're downloading the shortened URL for the "Updated" clients - don't do the originals they won't work.

The updated clients have the right links, but if you're running Win7 64 you need to add the full-path to java... instructions are in the troubleshooting thread.
