How exactly do they work? After you mine the radius of the support will their be a collapse cause the radius isnt that big and if you don't get metal you can build another one.

If you still don't know, here's my best guess;

The green radius is the "safe mine" zone. If you mine anywhere outside this radius, or on a square that isn't FULLY covered by the radius, it seems to cause a collapse. This is what i've seen so far.

you can safely mine the partialy covered tiles but if the tile is less than 10% covered by the mine support then you'll get a cave in. oh and another devious tip if the cave in is lucky enough to hit another support you'll get more cave ins...

to be honest if you've found a mineral spot with prospecting all you need is 1 miner support and you'll be set. It is possible to get 10 ore from a single tile...
