I'm VERY new and i know nothing the how to thing dint help BUT im KINDA getin it....well i dint know how to get out of a boat ANYWAYS how do i place log cabins and all....do i have to own land?.....and hoe do i get leather if i cant kill ANIMALS plz help...ur loveing noob kanec

You need to stone the area where you are putting the log cabin aka. you need Stone Working skill.
To get leather you should get skill named Hunting what allows you to catch rabbits,to catch rabbits you just look for one and then step on him and right click it,make sure you have 2x2 room.

use the search function provided there and search for boat, house and hunting. (the info on the timber house goes for all houses, dont try to build a stone mansion, + cabins are a waste of space and materials, at least in my opinion)

mind that the hunting text is outdated, dont hunt boars bears or foxes
