Alone in the world?

Whenever I go to play no one else is playing.. there seems to be a lot of activity on the forums so am I doing something wrong? Is there a server selection or something?

The world is huge. If you think you've walked a lot to find your settling place then you haven't, it's just a minimal portion of the world. The odds of finding someone else increase as you get closer to the centre of the world, though. You're probably closer to an edge or simply haven't come across your neighbours yet.

When I click the heart image and it brings up who is in the world it says I'm alone in the world? Is this not an indication of who else is playing?

No, it simply means you haven't kinned ("added") anyone yet. You can do so by right clicking on someone "Add as kin" or by someone else's Hearth Secret.

That's basically your "friends list" that you're looking at.

also, you kan remember people by either rightclicking them or ctrl+rightclicking their claim

so you will recognize people (as ??? though, so edit the ??? to sth else like "stole my boat", "claim nw on the heath" or whatever you like (write in kinlist and press return))

if find places without online ppl, you can ask for contact (like telling them your nick in the h&h forum). either by making a runestone and carving it afterwards or by making parchment from a hide (cartography-skill) and dumping this into a wickerbasket next to the claim)
