Permadeath, what does inherit do exactly?

Postby g1real » Thu Aug 13, 2009 3:11 pm

In any way I can't use my old nickname anymore, and with the reset now popping up I'll have to figure after what inherit exactly does, can anyone enlighten me?

What do I get returned? I noticed my old building options are still there, and I've read dying only makes you lose base stats and stats like markmanship.

Nope, no way to ever use your name again. Inherit lets you claim your dead character as an ancestor, giving you their claims and such. It also gives you a percentage of their LP and stats based on the position of your tradition/change slider. In the middle, you get 1/2 your lp and stats, full change you get none, full tradition, you get all.

What happens to skills? Do they come back as a % of LP, or does one simply keep them, as the OP appears to have been implying?

You've been playing since June and haven't managed to die yet? You're playing this game wrong, boy.

You lose all skills and they come back as a percentage of their current LP-value.

Huh, what who's playing since June, it certainly isn't me then.

Yes, when certain people (voodoodog) randomly PK you for random madeup reasons... You die.

I've been playing this game the way I prefer. Why would anyone want to get killed? Those who focus on PvP generally do get killed - but that's not my idea of fun. The rest of us may get hit by a scummy PvP'er, but we try to stay alive.

I too am curious how exactly this works. I have managed to die, but it was at full change, so I didn't learn anything from it. What I'm really curious about is whether you can rebalance your stats. If yes, then it seems to me that best way to gain ridiculous strength is to keep your stats balanced, then die and transfer all those points from int and cha to str.

Attributes like int, cha and str are lost for good.

LP from stats and skills are retributed from a % value determined by change.

1) Attributes and skill values are reduced by the appropriate percentage.
Exploration 40 @ tradition/change +-0 (50% reincarnation value) = Exploration 20
Strength 40 @ tradition/change +-0 (50% reincarnation value) = Strength 20

2) LP spent purchasing learning skills is always refunded, reduced by the appropriate percentage, in the form of unused LP.
Murder costs 100k LP. Reincarnation @ 50% reincarnation value means your character will start the game with 50k unused LP.

3) Unused LP (I.e. LP your character had in his pool when he died) is reduced by the appropriate percentage.
5000 unused LP is reduced to 2500 unused LP @ tradition/change +-0.

4) Claims are inherited, quite simply. Unreduced, that is.

I have been playing for a while I had expensive skils such as yeomanry and everything. When i made a new character and tried to inherit it only gave me 3 marksman skill back. I had 9 marksman and I got no lp refunded am i doing something wrong.
