Can you find ore without rustroot?

I'm assuming you can, but it was widely discussed with no apparent decree on yes or no.

I ask because I don't want to risk losing characters to cave-ins just to find some stones.

You could just head into a cave and start digging. If there happens to be ore there, you might get some. You also might kill yourself in a place where you never had a chance. I hear that if you only dig one tile in you might be safe. Don't take my word though.

for a reliable source of q90 stones, i'd risk it thats not too likely though
