How do I close this?

I want to build a palisade but no matter how I place it I can always walk around it.
It has to be connected to the cliff, how can I do this?

this kind of cliff does not fit to a wall. you can anyway try to close it with placing a cornerpost with shift+click, but that is hard (close to impossible to REALLY close it that way) and expensive
