How do I die while afk?

I was behind a boulder, inside a walled area. There are no scents around. And I was not starving or something. The character was there for about 10 hours. Then I came back (he was still there), opened Skype to chat, and suddenly after a minute or two H&H windows changed to character selection screen without my main there....

How's that possible?

Some one probably used x-ray vision on a custom client saw you afk and he shot you with his sling/bow.

You can't aim a player that way, I've just checked.

not exactly that way. but being behind something doesn't necessarily mean that other people can't see or aim at you.

Could anyone explain, please, how do you aim a target that is fully behind a boulder without being able to stand there?

Unless you are protected by multiple layers of palisade walls.

doesn't matter how many layers your wall is, it's all about distance. if you can be seen you can be shot.

some clients have the option to hide rocks. other clients have replaced the rock with a shorter rock.
