Mines Infinity and Beyond

Are mines still gonna be infinite? Some as you go through them turn out to have stone in some places so that brings me to this question. If not I would like to start my secondary mine hunting now.

Not exactly. mines have ore in almost every single tile and you can mine anywhere in them. Caves you have to walk in different places and the ore given out is random.

P.S: Do caves end their mining tiles?

Presumably the only time the end of mine-able tiles comes about would be at world's end, or near another entrance.

As far as I know there are 3 main layers
layer 1 is the surface
layer 2 is the caves which surface mine holes lead to
layer 3 is deep mines which cave mine holes lead to

Except for mines in caves.

Still a question, so not the Inn.

Yes caves and surface mines lead to the same layer and are all connected. Which leads to the fun possibility of raiding towns by digging into their mines, for all of you who haven't sealed their mines in properly yet. Then there seems to be a third layer when you build mines in caves/mines, leading to the more valuable metals.
