What should I do?

I just got my claim, and I have no clue what to do now. I live in a village with a few friends, but they hardly ever play, so I'm pretty much alone.

I have a lot of fish in my cupboards, but I don't want to get my stats unbalanced, as perception and agility foods are hard to find. I have a boat, so I can travel. I also have a bow, but no leather for a sling. I believe I'm in Grid 1.

EDIT - Also, do you recommend having full tradition or full change?

I've done this, but they only appear every 15 minutes or so for me.

This is a pace you will have to get used to with h&h. Every 15 minutes only makes 30 minutes to collect the leather for a sling, which isn't really much effort.

You should always be full change unless you expect or plan to die. The reduction of your learning ability is just too much of a penalty otherwise. Also the change slider will always move one towards change when you move another slider. So start by getting full peaceful (which also increases your learning ability) and your change slider will move along. This way you will have the full 360% learning ability in no time, granting you the fastest progression possible.

getting your explore skill up should be among top priority. it will let you find wild windsown weeds, which you can dry into regular seeds, which will start off your farm. With some carrots or peas you can raise your perception, with wheat and honey you can make honeybuns which are good for agi. While you shouldnt eat meat raw, it will make you sick, there is no such penalty on fish, so if you really need food but really dont want the FEP, you can eat raw fish. Get your survival up too. It will improve the quality of meat you roast and the foraging things you find. Dont be afraid of foraging every little thing, for the time invested it gives very good lp. With nettles and taproots you can craft ropes, which are needed for making a palisade... And around that time you will want a palisade to protect yourself. so, lots of things to do

If you really need agility, And Larvaes are the most common ant you can get from a hill and, as nowadays their quality is rarely below 10, they'll grant you the balanced stats you need.

As for perception it's a bit harder. You could either get 120 per*exp (aka 12 exploration) and try finding Bloated Boletes and combine them with Aphids (again, from ant nests) or wait for a Full Moon night, search for a lake and fish for plaice (not recommended as you don't have intestines, backpack, etc.).

Also, how do you kill ants? I don't understand the combat system very well.

there's a combat 101 somewhere

basically: raise some str and some UA (i'd say 15) and get some of the combat skills. Against ants i usually use the maneuvre bloodlust, move slide and punch. it keeps my def good enough, raises attack, and delivers the blow. works only on ants though
