How to stop lag?

The game servers obviously isn't lagging, and my connection is 25 mB (3.4 or so mb/s when downloading stuff) so I don't think that is to blame either. Though, somehow, the game STILL lags once I get one it. I have no idea why, what could I be doing wrong?

Why do you say "the game server obviously isn't lagging"? H&H is notoriously laggy and always has been. Lagspikes are frequent and are a common cause of death amongst hearthlings.

There's nothing you can do about the lag, unfortunately.

I was playing w/ a friend and he said he wasn't lagging. Though he could have been lying just to get at me. Not to mention all the youtube video's I've watched and its completely lag free.

Its a 512 mb nvidia card.

I think I found the problem though, its probably my horrible processor. Its 1.6 ghz..

Edit: But then again I play games like Aion and don't lag.

That can't be it, because I'm rocking 4.4 ghz and I got lag raped by a bear so ferociously, my dead character's descendant has a gaping maw where her butt should be.

If you're getting a very low framerate, then it's not called lag, it's called FPS drop or frameskipping.

Lag is slow communication between the server and client, which results in not being able to interact with the game temporarily. The server has been giving 5-10 second lag spikes since the new world (probably longer but I wasn't playing much).

Yeah its my FPS. I tried to raise it by doing things like putting it in fullscreen mode, but when I choose the option my screen just goes black. I am almost 100% positive its low fps because when I go inside a house its much better then when my character is outside. What can I do to raise it?
