Palisade Gates

I read somewhere that you can make gates for palisade walls. How do you go about making them? How wide is the gate (as in one space wide, or two spaces wide--tiles)? How practical are they (do you always have to have a key with you, is it worth is if you are far enough away?)?

Two tiles wide, Needs a cornerpost on either side then an option will come up to build one. Yes you need to keep the key with you at all times if you want to open and close it.

Walls are the best way to keep your stuff protected.

D and I are working in the same place. Is it possible to have multiple keys so we can both get in?

Yes. Use clay to make a keymold, then use the mold and some wrought iron to make a copy.
Surprise.
