Bear Cape and Sewing

Postby Dinotron » Sat Jan 29, 2011 6:26 pm

I recently killed my first bear (wooo!) and I got a 59q Bear Hide and 4x 108q Bear Tooth.

On the wiki it says:
Formula is likely (avg.Qteeth+avg.Qhide)/2 and softcapped by Sewing. Q63 Hide + Q115 Teeth, Sewing 15, yielded Q52 Bear Cape. (Will Verify)

So mine would be:
(108+59)/2 = 83.5.

I don't understand how they got Q52 Bear Cape with Sewing: 15.

What would my Sewing have to be to make a good cape? I want to try and retain the most quality. I have 34k unspent LP I can spend if I have to.

Softcap comes into effect when the q of the item your crafting would be greater than the stat softcapping it. The formula is (q + stat)/2.

So their bearcape would have been a q89 [(63+115)/2], but that's much greater than their sewing. Therefore the softcap of (89+15)/2 was implemented, resulting in a q52 cape.

As to your question, basically every 2 points of sewing you add to your character before crafting your bear cape will add 1 point of quality, up until the actual quality of the crafted item (83 sewing).

One more quick question.

On the wiki is shows this table:
Q STR HP AC
10 +10 50 0/15
55 +23 275 0/35

Is this by increments or will I have to craft above 55Q to get the +25 STR bonus?

looks like q55 gives 23 str so yes you need to make higher than q55 to get +25 str bonus...
idk what's hard about that?

I meant, if I were to make a Bear Cape with 54Q, would I only get +10 STR opposed to +23 from the 55Q?

open exel, type in both points and make a graph. in real its not linear, but it gives you an idea if you really can think it yourself

Oh okay, so it's relatively linear? I was just worrying that if I didn't make that 55Q mark, I'd be stuck with +10STR.

number*sqrt(Q/10) = "thing"

10*sqrt(55/10) = 23

10*sqrt(10/10) = 10

This works with most things
