I'm sure I'm missing something really obvious, but I have a birch sprout in a pot ready to be planted, and I'm left clicking the pot and then right clicking the ground where I want to plant the tree, and nothing is happening. The land isn't owned by someone else, and I'm able to farm, herb, and grow sproutlings, I just can't seem to actually plant this tree in the ground. What am I doing wrong?

EDIT: I gave the sproutling to a friend, who was able to plant it. For whatever reason, the plant tree menu doesn't show up when I right click the ground, and my farming/etc. skills are higher than my friend's, so it doesn't make sense why I'm unable to plant trees.

Just curious, you did leave the pot on the herbalist table for some time right?

Yep! An hour and a half or however long it was until a sprout appeared in the pot.

What terrain is the ground you're clicking on?

It's forest terrain. Whatever ground fir trees grow on.

The "plant tree" option doesn't appear? Did you test this on another tile?

No option appears. I tried on forest terrain and plowed tile, but nothing else.

Still no luck. I appreciate all the help thus far; I just hope I can figure out what my problem is before this sproutling dies.

Still hoping someone can figure out my issue. If it's a bug, how can I report it so as to get it fixed?

is there perhaps some skill that your friend has that you don't? lumberjacking or plant lore or something? i didn't think there was any requirement to plant a tree...

Wow, you saved me. I was completely overlooking lumberjacking. What an obvious mistake. I knew I had to be doing something wrong. Thank you so much for all the help and suggestions.
