What do I need to start mining?

ok well i found a mine amd im sure it has metal but im no were near someone who has metal for me to make a pickaxe out of so i can mine is there any other way i can make a pickaxe? so i can start mining?

Bear tooth talisman raises your STR and so does Bear Cape, kill one bear and you will get them,and yes food raises your STR too.

Pretty much strength. You'll need quite a bit for most nodes, too.

The best way for a noob is a bear cape. If you go full Barbarism, you can get your strength up to 60 or so, which is enough for most nodes.
