hunting with unarmed

I have 60 UA and i just went to attack a fox. It one shot my defense bar and did damage to me?
yesterday i was attacking foxes and they barely did any damage to my defense bar and i could easily kill them. Am i missing a factor that causes them to one shot me today and barely do anything yesterday?

Are you set to the dodge maneuver? Are you moving while the fox attacks? Did you have a change in armor?

yes, maybe, and yes i replaced my old leather armor with higher q

does moving with dodge(or any manuever?) cause them to break through your defense meter in one hit?
and does armor affect your defense meter?

if you move by mistake the hit will ignore your defence bar....

Armor has nothing to do with your defense bar.

If you are moving without a combat action queued, enemy attacks will hit you as though you had a defensive weight of 0.
