How far did you have to mine into cave before you found ore.

Just trying to get an average and some more information on mining in caves. Since I have not found any rustroot yet. So far I have been mining 3 squares in and spacing them apart by 1 so that the cave wotn collapse. I have gotten a good way into the cave and not found any ore. I am wondering if people have better luck farther back into the cave or if by this point I should just say my cave has no easily found ore.

From my knowledge, starting from the very first dig into the wall, you'll either get stone or an ore based on the minerals. Like, In some parts of my cave, I get stones. In other I get Tin, and sometimes even Iron.

Only far more repatative, and no where near as exciting.
