Question about Barter Stand

Are there certain things you can't put in the barter stand? I"m having trouble with butter and fish. Someone please tell me if it's something I"m doing wrong, or if it's just the stand. thanks

EDIT: scratch that. I can't put anything on my barter stand. I filled up 3 out of 5 slots. and it won't let me put anything on my remaining two slots. anyone know why?

EDIT2: I can also put things I want to trade for in the last two slots... just not things I'm selling. ugh!
