Lean to.

Postby utahogden » Thu Feb 03, 2011 2:30 am

Sorry for the stupid question but I just started and I am lost on how things work. I figure the first thing I need to do is start a camp for myself and I built a lean to and a few other basic things. What does the lean to do for me? Does it do anything? Should I even bother messing with it besides getting some LP for building it?

Put your bed under it and then you can place items in it to prevent them from being stolen.

It's basically just a really crude form of item protection for people before they have yeomanry and can get a claim up.

I tried placing a bed under it but my character just stands there and nothing happens.

Make a bed, lift it, then right click the leanto and select one of the slots that pop up to put the bed in.

I still don't understand why we have two incomplete wikis instead of one somewhat complete wiki.

The wikia site was screwed up thanks to wikia deciding to push changes on people. It caused lots of wikis to move. RingofBrodgar is hosted privately as far as I am aware, and contains all of the information the wikia one does/did, and more.

and if you think the info isnt complete: either sign up and help put everything in there. Or if you don't help, at least don't complain either

People just say 'put your bed in your leanto', which a logical person would mean 'build it in the leanto', especially since if you go to build it it looks exactly right but just won't let you do it. I would just get irritated not search the wiki for 'how do i place bed in leanto' (which may or may not even yield anything).

Further I'm not going to know that I can open inventory etc by picking things up and rightclicking the leanto. The only reason I would even have the slightest idea what you're talking about is because I might have figured out how to put stuff in boats.

There's a lot of stuff that we take for granted now like shift-scrolling and shift clicking and ctrl clicking and item inventories that just aren't intuitive and unless you're either very experimental or know exactly where a concise guide is you're going to have to ask somebody.
