So I've mined 200 tiles+

So I've mined 200 tiles+ and even prospected a lot, still no sign of any ore.
Could the mine be dry even tho i get the red circle with a pie slice sometimes when i prospect.

Prospecting is all borked right now. It's possible there isn't any in that area.

Actually, it seems to me that the red circle does in fact mean "there is metal somewhere nearby". However, it's on the level /below/ you. I've seen "there appears to be tin below" while standing next to a cave wall, mined out that wall and got rocks from it, then prospected again in the hole and gotten the same message. If you want to know about minerals in the cave, you need to be on the surface.

I believe the lack of any pie slice just means "i am obstinately refusing to tell you the direction right now", similar to how rustroot will now sometimes miss nearby minerals. Just move a bit and keep trying. Expect to use up lots of rustroot.

No, "There are minerals below" means that you're on a spot for a mine hole. The pie slice means there are minerals in that direction. The pie slice can point to a spot for a mine hole or a wall with minerals. The problem is simply that prospecting is currently buggy if you're using decent quality rustroot. You can prospect in one spot, get a nice close result, take two steps in that direction and prospect again, and get no results. Even if it was pointing to a location beneath you, you'd be closer, and thus should also get a result.
