Ram and Palisade

Postby RXM9600 » Fri Feb 04, 2011 2:23 am

So i am building a palisade and i can't afford the additional 10 leather for extra cornerposts to build gates. I read that you can use a ram to take down the wall for the gate but i don't have the strength for it. Can multiple people use a ram to take down a wall and also how far can i move the ram before it breaks down? ( can i repair it?)

Multiple people can use it, yes. And it's 5 tiles before it breaks down, and it requires bone glue to repair (plus an 8 hour wait for it to dry).

How many people can use it at the same time? Only moves 5 tiles before it breaks down? What do i do if my wall is HUGE? What do you suggest i do? Make 2-3 rams?(2-3 gates). What if our combined STR is not 36 thats required?

I'm not sure on the numbers because I got kinda creative with how I made my palisade, and only used two initial posts and ended up with a crazy number of gates.

As far as I know, it's five. If it's huge... you can either settle for fewer gates (which is easier to keymanage) or build more rams, or alternately hunt hunt hunt. I got a fuckload of leather from a rabbit hunting trip the other day, so perhaps you'll get lucky, too! :D

Um... I dunno.

I generally figure you need to build either one initial cornerpost /or/ one battering ram per disconnected chunk of palisade you want. Make sure you check the cost on the battering ram, they use rope too. One other option is to build palisade around the gate you want, creating a useless gate for now, and then just wait for the wall-off of that gate to decay. Make sure you don't pave under the section you want to decay.

...Yes you can. You can at least extend them there. I have a palisade over unpaved ground right now.
