Lawspeaker dead,how to take over lawspeaker status?

In about 2 days ago lawspeaker was killed by Mouflons.First mouflon knocked out lawspeaker,then another finish that guy.So i am chieftain and i wont to take his status.How can i do that?(Sorry for bad english,maybe you understand :/)

You can't do it as chieftain, for whatever reason. Normal villager can just right click idol and become LS, provided he has Lawspeaking.

That's kind of dumb. Chieftain should automatically become LS after LS's death, via Vice President. I wouldn't want some normal villager declaring themselves LS.
