can you die lifting something for to long and going afk

newb here great game so far, i've only been playing about three days and so far this game is really quite addicting, even with the lag and broken sound and 2d graphics, normally don't play click base mmo's however this one is something unique, i'm originally from wurm online, this game is similar in terms of building stuff, learning fast, i just have a few questions since i'm new and i just experienced my first perma death (not quite sure how, i lost a ton of LP and now my learning ablility % is back to where it was when i first started playing a nice little set back... and to top it all off the worst part of it all being i was afk for less then 5 minutes, next time i'll just log out even if i have to go afk for 1 minute). Here is what occured, i just had finished claiming some land and than went afk for less than 5 mins, my guy was standing on tiles of my newly claimed land out doors infront of my log cabin, i'm aware it won't prevent being killed but still i was in the deep wilderness with nobody around for miles away, i had left him lifting a heavy felled tree when i was afk (can you die from lifting heavy objects too long) if that's the case than i wasn't griefed? when i returned the game was on the login screen, being new and all i had no other characters to select, at first i thought i was just d/c for being idle in the game world to long but when i didn't see my character to select i knew i was either griefed and player killed or something else killed me, so i made a new guy than saw my tombstone of my first character inside the character creation room... i proceeded up the ladder and saw my dead corpse no animals present and no signs of other players around but i did notice one of my four gates was left ajar (i always close my gates), nothing had been stolen except two pieces of fish fillet from food table. going to be a week before i get back all the lp i lost.

No, you cannot.
