What happens if you try building a mine hole above a house or another mine hole which are one layer beneath?

Is it foolish to build a minehole just to get more space? I'm on an island so space is a premium, and a second layer would be handy, with or without ore.

You would need to protect it so people don't come in by mining a tunnel to it.

Sounds problematic.

Just build a palisade around the area you use in the cave.

It'll take some doing. My above ground palisade is already gonna cost me around 1500 wood. And that's just for the cornerposts. O_O

The underground one you can make square so it shouldn't be nearly as bad.

Trufax.
1500 wood is over 50 trees that have to suffer for me. I feel kinda bad because bucket grinders are killing my neighborhood, and I don't really wanna contribute.
