Apples and Charcoal

Okay, after a search...

It seems no one here can conclusively say when apples respawn on the trees.

It appears to be random; what's the longest you've ever seen an apple tree go without apples?

I would think this information would be kind of important and thus on the wiki, but, the wiki... well, it's useful content seems to be about as randomly distributed.

Trees replenish when they get hit by the decay function, which is random. Do note that decay still works for trees even if they're on a claim.

Well, this tree has been without apples for at least 4 days now, probably 5.

It's on a village claim, inside the village walls. Nothing has been stolen (except at our barter stands).

So we know for sure that the apples regen every single time there's a decay tick?

Yeah, but it takes a while to hit them, it's one tile at a time. I'd say that the average time for a tree to get hit is around a week, but the actual time for a specific tree may differ wildly from that number.

find anothger tree with apples?
Learn from the mistakes of others. You won't live long enough to make all of them yourself.

That isn't the point - we don't really need the apples. We were just wondering when they regenerate.

I'm doubleposting because I'm moving on to a slightly different topic: charcoal.

You can use charcoal in ovens but how many branches does one piece of charcoal equate to?

I seem to recall reading that 1 charcoal = 2 branches but I can't find this anywhere.

Okay, thank you.

In other words, there's no reason to use charcoal for anything other than forges and smelting, as branches are more efficient for everything else.

When quality doesn't matter, don't use charcoal.

When quality does matter... Well, obviously use charcoal.
