Quality, caves and mines

A few questions on quality...
Do all buildable objects have quality based on the materials used to in their construction? For which of these items is it important? (ie the kiln) And is there any way to check the quality on these items other than the average quality of the materials used?

A few questions about caves and mines...
Can a mine shaft be build so that it enters a cave? Can a mine shaft be build almost anywhere, (obviously not water swamps etc) or are there restrictions like the well (finding a 'spring')? If I was to move 10 squares into a cave, and on the surface count 10 squares from the top of the cave entrance in the same direction and make a mine, would that be the same spot? Is it possible to find a spring underground so a well can be built? And finally, can you build a mine hole in a house/cellar, and if so, does this enter the same underground network? (I read something about this but didn't entirely understand...)

Only counts for object which can process stuff (eg. kiln, oven, etc.).

And is there any way to check the quality on these items other than the average quality of the materials used?

Yes: Process something in the object and note quality change. Then do some math.

Placing a runestone with average q of building materials is easier.

Yes, because one of the ways that we have a small security breach is that someone made a mine hole in their village and it leads to the cave that we get our iron from.
