is it 2 or 3 squares away? dont know either if its 2. try building signs in there to see how many fit in between. otherwise if you right click a cornerpost you should get a make a gate option

if my eyes are correct, distance between corner posts is more than 2 tiles, but less than 3. You build cornerposts with shift pressed?

I agree with Ender, it looks like you held shift whilst placing one of your original corner posts.

Shift lets you place things "off the grid" and is useful for lining up with cliffs, but normally means it will never line up with anything else shift placed or normally placed. If you are building palisades, always best to place original corner posts without holding shift.

It's probably 3 tiles, test it with powing 2 tiles, you can see it better then
If you dont know the shift function I doubt you have ever used it, cause u would probably notice it when you use it.

Well they are never going to make a gate between them. You could build one side right up to the other and it may be secure, and then use a ram to smash a hole in one of the sides away from the join.

Might be easier just to go for a new corner post though.

yeah, basically, you're fucked. try ramming it down. you dont need much str if you make a ram, but it takes some time to make one and use it

They're built such that you could much more easily just build two new cornerposts aligned to the grid infront of or behind the unaligned posts and use those to build a gate. Your current setup doesn't look like it would prohibit this or have this cause any breaches.
