to be more descriptive, it's the score you get when you multiply whatever your perception stat is with what your exploration skill value is. so if you've got 10 exploration and 10 perception, thats a score of 100 perc*explo

Just in case you'd like to know the wiki states the BASE value to begin to see certain foragable objects. This means you will see a small portion of the ones that are there are this level. You will see more of these foragable objects as your per*exp skill goes up until it reaches x4 the BASE value at which point you will be able to see 100% of the foragable objects. I hope this helps.
