Bears running from me

How do I kill bears with a bow? my first one 4 days ago but the last 5 bears i've come across just run away after 2-3 shots and never return. I can't exactly chase them or ill wind up with no stam and get mauled. Any useful advice?

Running animals won't destroy construction signs. When the bear has aggro on you, get a friend to come in behind him and build a wall of signposts to keep him at the shore. Make sure your friend keeps about 15-20 tiles away or the bear will aggro and change targets from you to him. When the bear runs, he'll stop at the signs and turn around.

If you're clever or like to take risks doing it alone: pull the bear to the shore, run away to lose aggro, then come back and signpost him in yourself before getting in the boat and shooting. It's a bit more difficult because the bear might wander away from the shore or towards you before you finish the wall.

OK thanks ill try that, i guess i just got lucky with that first bear never running away or something. I was about to lose my mind after after those 5 bears run away. aaaaaagh. But thank you again

Well what i have done for the last 3 bears i killed i make them run and then just get out o fmy boat and dont move. The bear should run back to and you follow you around then you can either shoot till he dies or punch him to death

lol wow get out of your boat and punch them? im not sure were on the same lvl, id be so afraid id die (done it with boars but bears hah) I got a couple of friends that are playing with me, we've just about finished our palisades; I'm sure when we do i can get them to actually invest in MM and help me lay waste to the local boar population.

Sometimes the bear will run far enough away to break combat and you'll lose LP as a result, though. .

What I like to do can be dangerous but if you have the UA and the armor to pull it off it makes things easy, if you can handle it try this out..

1. Spot Bear.

2. Don't aggro, build a signpost pen near a water source, right up to the shallows. Leave a 2 tile gap.

3. Kite the bear to the pen and through the 2 tile gap. (Carry plenty of water just incase)

4. Wiggle around him through the water and pop down two sign posts in the gap, don't move too much or he may move to close to signs and break them. You have to be able to tank the bear for a short time to do this without dying.

5. Hop onto your boat and kill the bear.
