How long before clearcut forest turns into grassland?

I'm a newb, and I tried searching the forums before posting, so don't get annoyed please (lol). I clear-cut a little bit of forest and I am really hoping it to turn quickly, since I have like nothing to farm/raise.

Does anyone know the average time it takes?

I did some experiments on this in w3, not sure if it has changed in w4. It can take anywhere from 5 minutes to a week before you begin to see the grass growing in. Modifying the terrain nearby through plowing, paving, etc. will cause the game to update more frequently and, at least superficially, cause grass to replace forest tiles sooner. The variance between grass growth time was wildly erratic between controlled areas and didn't seem to have any rhythm or reason to it.

4 weeks passed since I chopped everything and today I killed first herd of aurochs outside of my palisade.
About 80% tiles are grass now.

Thanks you guys. I finally got some grape seeds last night from a new friend down the river I'm on. I planted three of them and I just now noticed that there are some green patches popping up around where I planted them.

I'm contemplating just plowing everything around me and stomping it all back to dirt >.>

This would prevent any grass from growing on its own and force you to manually plant grass.

If one were to plow out the land around a grassland, would the inner tiles (the flecks of forest tiles) be converted to grass quicker? Or would it be ideal to plow the tiles inside the grass?

They convert sometimes when decay ticks hit them.
