Low quality metal and re-smelting

Postby Halagaz » Mon Feb 14, 2011 1:21 pm

Hi i made some bad quality iron and copper, not a lot but around 20 bars of Q15. I made the mistake to burn them with the first charcoal i made since i wasn't aware Q metal was directly linked to charcoal, i taught you could find good quality ore just like clay and other resources. So now i can make better charcoal. I plan to use those low Q bars making mine supports or anything where quality doesn't matter much.

So i try to find good use to them. So i ask myself can you re-smelt the items you make, can you resmelt an anvil or a pickaxe back into bars like you do nuggets (this would let me use those bars in the mean time i get better charcoral)?
I would use those bars to make a pickaxe but i have a Q18 stone axe and i think the pickaxe made with those Q15 iron won't worth it, i'm right?
So any advises for good use to low Q metals would help me. I was thinking about a meat grinder but it seam quality matter? But since i'm an ermit maybe i'll make a meat grinder and a fry pan with it, finding food isn't the problem.

I'd use low Q always in buildings, Stone Mansion, Chest and Large Chest for example require Metal.
Large chests are always a near asset.
