Destroy a partial mansion

I started building a stone mansion and after adding a few materials decided I made a mistake and wanted to make a log cabin instead. Now I can not reach the sign post in the middle of the blocked off area to destroy it. How can I abort my partial construction?

adventure > destroy, click sign, wait

Your character can interact with the sign without having to walk all the way up to it. So do as Sabinati says, but don't expect the character to walk up to the sign, they will stop at the edge of the area the stone mansion would cover if completed.
