Mine Layer 2 (extreemly hard)

Postby Jerb » Tue Feb 15, 2011 2:59 am

So i was wondering if anybody else has noticed that layer 2 metal nodes are ridiculous hard?
I mean even with 200 Strenght and a Q30 axe it keeps telling me this rock is very much to hard to mine.
This for being iron inside the wall (I prospect above it) I imagine the stamina drain to be huge but what's the point in even trying then :?

Try using a pickaxe instead? And it just depends where really, I'm having no problem in the second layer with less strength than you.

87 STR and Pickaxe q40 is enough for me, altho it is pretty hard and draining my stamina pretty fast too.
It really depends on the place, also, it seems like there is a little correlation with the wall hardness from the first layer too (Altho I was said that it was totally random)

I'm mining on the second layer with just a Q30 axe any around 45 strength. I think you must just be unlucky or using too low quality axe.

How hard stone is, is entirely random. Sometimes you'll have the softest rock possible and other times you'll have stone that requires 400str and a q40 sledge, that's just how it rolls. Where it's located does not effect its hardness though how hard stone is seems to rise gradually as if hardness were just like any other node.

I noticed that but i didn't know it could happen to metal nodes,I am 100% sure the wall I am trying to mine yields iron.

Also to the people asking me why I am not using a pickaxe, that's simple a pickaxe only seems to increase the speed as i can mine harder walls with the Q30 axe then with the Q19 pickaxe.

Its about quality, with the same quality pickaxe as the stoneaxe you should be able to mine the same stone hardness. Also the randomness is even not related to lvl. I have in my cave wall with iron and with stoneaxe q70 I am not able to crush it with my STR 170. In the 2nd level although I have q 20 Copper which I basically cut as butter.
