Why cant I build my gate?

Hello. I followed the instructions on the wiki (two empty spaces with cornerposts on either side) and it gives me the message 'You cant build that there'. I can't figure out why, and I'm frustrated that I might have completely screwed up my little base. Heres a pic.

either you used shift to place one of the cornerposts out of allignment, but thats never 2 spaces in between. try building 2 fires in between

I can build two fires between the posts.

Pave infront of the gate and do that to the other side too.

did you try reading the wiki?



All palisades, cornerposts and gates should be constructed on paved tiles to lessen the decay rate. Gates require extra 2 paved tiles in front of and behind them.

Of course I read the wiki, I state so in the OP. Unfortunately for me, I missed that last line, haha. Thanks for the help guys.

looks like you only have 1.5 tiles inbetween (instead of two) ...
