How would one max out tree quality?

Postby SeanPan » Tue Feb 15, 2011 1:25 pm

I'm curious - how would one max out tree quality around 100q(if that is the max?).

It says that tree quality is dependent on high quality herbalist table, which requires high quality lumber. But if all lumber by default is q10, it implies that the overall tree quality can only be improved through high-q water and clay for the pot, which eventually will retroactively improve the herbalist table.

But because of the nature of averaging, even if we had 100q water and 100q clay, doesn't that imply we will never get a 100q tree, and thus, 100q lumber?

You would need q100+ clay, q100+ water, and q100+ soil. Not to mention quite a bit of time to raise the quality of the tree seeds over many generations and a chance to raise your crop qualities to levels sufficient to produce q100 herbalist tables. So q100 of each of the natural resources and lots of time, essentially.

There's a bit of randomness in the q of the tree you get (+/- 5 from average of materials, IIRC), so you can get it a couple of points beyond your materials with a bit of luck.

Use the highest Q materials and get the highest Q bone saw you can to make the boards for the herb table.
Good Herb tables increase tree Q.
