How do you obtain string?

Recently today i was outrun by a bunny and was wandering how do i get string to make a sling? I cant seem to find any. Or what type of creature/resource gives me string? Also, do i have to kill an animal to get "bones" or can i loot them from a dead guy? p:

ps. you cannot obtain bones from player skeletons, only animals
