Butchered animals

We've started hunting and I noticed that we are only getting skin quality and flesh quality 9 or so from our foxes and aurochsen. Is that normal, or is it a sign that our Survival Skill is too low?

survival level, butchering tool quality and corpse quality (level) all determine the quality of the outcome products.

You need better carving tools and/or higher survival. Please read the wiki on that subject:
