Sparring and death

Postby SeanPan » Fri Feb 18, 2011 12:01 pm

Just to confirm - is it possible for sparring to inadvertantly kill another player?

And make sure nobody has Criminal Acts enabled before you begin sparring :) Sometimes, if you have it on, you accidentally agro them instead of accepting the spar, and then at the end somebody gets KO'd. But they would still only be KO'd rather than murdered, unless they had very low HHP.

I've seen threads where overpowered characters sparred with newer ones and one-hit killed them.
I wouldn't feel too safe risking all my LP in a potentially flawed sparring system.

You cannot injure anyone in sparring. Even if you severely overkill damage it does not spill over past your "Sparing HP" into your SHP or HHP.

Also there are no such threads that state characters killing other in sparring. He just made that up.

The only real death involves sparring is when storm of sword was still around and that move was taken out of the game. In other words, sparring is completely safe.
If you keep focusing on the shadow behind, you will not see the light in front of you.

Being successful isn't just about hard work and succeeding, it is also about picking yourself up when you fail.

there have been threads of someone sparring, when their opponent suddenly stops sparring and engages in real combat, or someone walks by, gets the wrong idea and joins in a real fight
Learn from the mistakes of others. You won't live long enough to make all of them yourself.

How can you end sparing prematurely? Is that even possible?
