Bee Hives

Hi, I am a bit confused with bee hives. I am currently building a farm to farm every crop and am thinking about how i should place my hives. Each plot is 7x7 and right now i am thinking about putting one hive in the middle of each plot. But what I don't know is if it would be bad to do that since they are all close and some of the hives would override the others or what. Or if i should just do 1 hive per 4 plots. So if someone could explain the hives in as much detail as you can that would rock and be very helpful. Also, with the wax, how long does it take to produce? Because I have some hives that produce honey but I don't think they have really ever produced wax.

4 hives produces the same amount of honey per 4 plots as one hive per 4 plots. The crops dont grow faster if you build more hives either, so its best to save materials and use the full radius of each beehive.
