Asked and asked again

Every time i try to dig at a brown spot of terrain it wont give me clay and if i do get clay i only get 1-2 pieces how do i get more?

You need to find a quality node, the stuff isn't just everywhere. Keep looking until you find >q10 and then you will get more.

Quality of items like clay/soil and water differ from place to place.
The clay node you're at probably contains clay of quality 10 or below.
However, since the lowest quality of clay provided is 10, you will only get 1 piece of clay.

Look for other clay nodes, or dig in shallow water and you'll eventually find clay of higher quality, and thus higher quantity.

mudflats, riverbanks (in the water) worked for me.

also talk to the locals and passers by, i had tried the 2 mudflats near me and got nothing, asked the guys and a nearby village and they pointed me to a q40 mudflat node.

A lot of clay nodes are marked too, from previous players, some are claimed (not the whole node, the the high Q part) and people will place kilns by them.
