I got eaten by a bear. So I made a new character, who set off from a known location and headed back to my house. The new character got 3/4 of the way, saw a boar and ran away ... unfortunately not fast enough. My third character in as many days is now alone in the wilderness and would REALLY like to know where. *cry*

Edited - seems the server is down so no option but to trawl around the map looking for the place I just got rid of the picture of. Now I just have to build a boat before I can go anywhere. *crys more*

If you wanted to get back to your original locations, you should have just inherited from the previous corpses. :/ You do it with a runestone in the bottom-left of the character creation room. Not that that'll help you now, but for the future, if/when you get your stuff back and die again.

Thanks, tbh I'm not sure quite what I did - the one that ended up eaten by a boar definitely did inherit some levels and LP from the first one, but went down a trapdoor rather than up a ladder to get into the world (what's that about? what thread have I not read?) in a village, and didn't have a hearthfire.

The one that's not dead yet I'm pretty sure inherited from that one, but went up the ladder into the world (should I not have done?) and has a hearthfire in a TOTALLY UNHELPFUL place that I have now found.

yeah i'm pretty sure that if you want to keep returning to your original character's hearthfire you inherit it with the runestone, then go up the ladder, i think when you went through the trapdoor that one time you lost the hearthfire location and so the next time you used the ladder it put you in a random location again
